A fire broke out at an abandoned warehouse of Bangladesh Telecommunication Company Limited (BTCL) in Sylhet. The warehouse caught fire at 6 pm on Wednesday (November 12). Upon receiving the information, three units of the fire service quickly reached the spot and brought the fire under control in about 20 minutes. BTCL Deputy General Manager Mihir Roy said that initially it is believed that the fire started from a short circuit. He said that an estimated damage of Tk200,000 was caused. A detailed investigation is underway into the matter. Taltola Fire Service Senior Station Officer Qutub Uddin said that it was just an accident. No signs of sabotage were found in the initial investigation. However, a detailed investigation will be conducted to confirm the exact cause of the fire.

সিলেটে বাংলাদেশ টেলিকমিউনিকেশনস কোম্পানি লিমিটেডের (বিটিসিএল) একটি পরিত্যক্ত গুদামঘরে অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনা ঘটেছে। বুধবার (১২ নভেম্বর) সন্ধ্যা ৬টার দিকে গুদামঘরটিতে আগুন লাগে। খবর পেয়ে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের তিনটি ইউনিট দ্রুত ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছে প্রায় ২০ মিনিটের চেষ্টায় আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। বিটিসিএলের উপ-মহাব্যবস্থাপক মিহির রায় জানান, প্রাথমিকভাবে ধারণা করা হচ্ছে শর্ট সার্কিট থেকেই আগুনের সূত্রপাত হয়েছে। এতে আনুমানিক দুই লাখ টাকার ক্ষয়ক্ষতি হয়েছে বলে তিনি জানান। বিষয়টি নিয়ে বিস্তারিত তদন্ত চলছে। তালতলা ফায়ার সার্ভিসের সিনিয়র স্টেশন অফিসার কুতুব উদ্দিন বলেন, এটি নিছক একটি দুর্ঘটনা। প্রাথমিক তদন্তে নাশকতার কোনো আলামত পাওয়া যায়নি। তবে অগ্নিকাণ্ডের সঠিক কারণ নিশ্চিত হতে বিস্তারিত তদন্ত করা হবে।
