Fire breaks out in woodpile at Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant
A fire broke out in a pile of discarded wood at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant in Ishwardi, Pabna, on Wednesday, November 6 afternoon.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started around 12:30pm in the abandoned woodpile. As a fire service station is located only 300 yards away from the plant, a unit quickly reached the spot and began extinguishing the fire.
Later, a total of eight units from Rooppur Modern, Green City, Rooppur Temporary, and Ishwardi Fire Stations joined the operation.
Thanks to their efforts, the blaze was brought fully under control around 1:15pm. However, the exact cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed.
Asaduzzaman, an officer at Rooppur Green City Modern Fire Station, said the fire has been completely extinguished.
