At least 10 patients have died after a fire broke out in the ICU of the Trauma Centre at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, Odisha. The blaze started early Monday, between 2:30am and 3:00am. At the time of the incident, 23 patients were admitted in the ICU. While evacuating the patients, 10 lost their lives. Additionally, 11 hospital staff members were injured, five of them critically, during rescue efforts. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that preliminary investigations indicate the fire may have been caused by an electrical short circuit. He praised the doctors and security personnel for risking their lives to rescue patients. Authorities have warned that the death and injury toll may rise as rescue and assessment operations continue. ভারতের ওড়িশা রাজ্যের কটক শহরের এসসিবি মেডিকেল কলেজ ও হাসপাতালের ট্রমা সেন্টারের আইসিইউতে আগুন লেগে অন্তত ১০ রোগীর মৃত্যু হয়েছে। সোমবার (১৬ মার্চ) ভোররাত ২টা ৩০ মিনিট থেকে ৩টার মধ্যে আগুনের সূত্রপাত হয়। ঘটনার সময় আইসিইউতে ২৩ জন রোগী ছিলেন। আগুন লাগার পর রোগীদের সরানোর সময় ১০ জন মারা যান। দুর্ঘটনায় হাসপাতালের ১১ জন কর্মী দগ্ধ হয়েছেন, যাদের মধ্যে পাঁচজনের অবস্থা গুরুতর। ওড়িশার মুখ্যমন্ত্রী মোহনচরণ মাঝি জানিয়েছেন, প্রাথমিক তদন্তে আগুনের কারণ বৈদ্যুতিক শর্ট সার্কিট হতে পারে। তিনি বলেন, চিকিৎসক ও নিরাপত্তা কর্মীরা নিজেদের জীবন বিপন্ন করে রোগীদের উদ্ধার করার চেষ্টা করেছেন। এই ঘটনায় আহত এবং মৃতদের সংখ্যা বাড়তে পারে বলে আশঙ্কা প্রকাশ করা হচ্ছে।
