Five more die from dengue

Five more people have died from dengue between 8 am Saturday and 8 am Sunday. Among them, three deaths occurred within the Dhaka South City Corporation area. During the same period, 1,162 new patients were admitted to hospitals.

The information was confirmed in a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday, November 2.

According to the release, of the newly admitted patients, 163 were from Barishal Division, 108 from Chattogram, 76 from Dhaka Division (including both city and non-city areas), 261 from Dhaka North City, 175 from Dhaka South City, 154 from areas outside the Khulna City Corporation, 87 from outside Mymensingh City Corporation, 98 from outside Rajshahi City Corporation, and eight from outside Sylhet City Corporation.

Meanwhile, 951 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of discharged patients this year to 68,410.

According to the DGHS, a total of 71,675 patients have been hospitalised with dengue across the country so far this year, and 283 people have died.

In comparison, throughout 2024, 101,214 people were hospitalised with dengue and 575 deaths were recorded. In the previous year, 2023, Bangladesh recorded 321,179 hospital admissions and 1,705 deaths from dengue.
