Bangladesh defeated New Zealand by 55 runs in the series-deciding third ODI to seal their first bilateral series win over the Kiwis in 12 years. A brilliant century from Najmul Hossain Shanto and a five-wicket haul from Mustafizur Rahman powered the historic victory.

At the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, Bangladesh posted 265 all out after being put into bat, before bowling out New Zealand for 210 to clinch the three-match series 2–1. It marks Bangladesh’s first ODI series win over New Zealand since 2013–14.

Bangladesh were under early pressure after losing three quick wickets for 32 runs, but Shanto and Litton Das rebuilt the innings with a crucial 160-run partnership.

Shanto anchored the innings with a composed 105 off 119 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes to register his fourth ODI century. Litton ended a long wait for a fifty, scoring 76 off 91 deliveries.

Despite their strong stand, Bangladesh lost momentum late in the innings, managing only 61 runs in the final 10 overs after looking set for a 300-plus total.

In response, New Zealand lost early wickets, including Henry Nicholls and Will Young, as Bangladesh’s pace attack struck early. Skipper Tom Latham also fell cheaply as the visitors slipped under pressure.

Nick Kelly top-scored for New Zealand with 59, while Dean Foxcroft fought with a gritty 75, but regular breakthroughs kept the visitors behind the required rate.

Mustafizur led the bowling attack with a match-winning five-wicket haul, while Nahid Rana also played a key role with pace and breakthroughs at crucial stages.

New Zealand were eventually bowled out for 210, handing Bangladesh a memorable series victory on home soil.
