Folk legend Farida Parveen seek prayers amid health concerns
Legendary folk singer and torchbearer of Lalon songs, Farida Parveen, is currently undergoing treatment for kidney-related complications. While concerns over her health have sparked an outpouring of support on social media, the iconic artist has made one humble request: prayers from well-wishers, not financial assistance.
Despite online claims suggesting that her treatment is being hindered due to financial difficulties, Farida Parveen’s family has categorically denied such reports. Her son, Imam Jafar, clarified that the family is fully capable of managing her medical expenses.
“Alhamdulillah, we are able to bear our mother’s treatment costs. If needed, her own savings will be used. People should not assume she is facing financial hardship,” Imam told reporters.
He also urged the public not to spread misinformation. “Please don't spread rumors. We ask instead for prayers so that my mother may recover and return to the stage,” he said.
According to Imam, Farida Parveen has been battling kidney issues since 2019. Her condition has weakened further following the start of dialysis. “All of us in the family are personally caring for her. The government has reached out, offering help, but my mother respectfully declined. She has never sought financial aid—only blessings and prayers.”
Farida Parveen is revered as one of the most prominent voices in Bangladeshi folk music. She began her musical journey with Nazrul Sangeet and patriotic songs, later becoming a distinguished exponent of Lalon’s philosophy-infused songs under the mentorship of saintly musician Moksed Ali Shah.
As she continues her fight against illness, admirers across the country are being called upon to offer heartfelt prayers for her swift recovery.
