Forcibly stamping ballots attempted: Rumeen Farhana
Barrister Rumeen Farhana, independent candidate for the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency (Sarail, Ashuganj and parts of Bijoynagar), has alleged that supporters of Jonaed Al Habib, candidate backed by the BNP alliance, attempted to forcibly stamp ballots at eight polling centres in Ashuganj upazila.
She made the allegation while speaking to journalists after casting her vote at the Shahbajpur North Government Primary School centre in Sarail at 9:15 am on Thursday, February 12.
Rumeen Farhana said she has sent a list of the eight centres to police, army and the Deputy Commissioner, among other concerned authorities. She also claimed her activists are facing administrative harassment.
She said, "Last night, police picked up two of my workers. There was a plan to stamp ballots on date trees at night, which is why they were on patrol. But they were detained without any complaint."
