Foreign state minister visits actress Badhon’s home

State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir has visited the home of actress Azmeri Haque Badhon, who returned home after being attacked in Italy, to inquire about her and her family members on Tuesday. Badhon herself informed that the state minister had gone to her home on behalf of the prime minister.

The actress expressed gratitude to the state minister for foreign affairs in a post on her verified Facebook ID on Tuesday evening (September 15).

Badhon wrote, “Today Honourable State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Humayun Kabir came to our home on behalf of Honourable Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to inquire about me and my family. I am deeply honoured and grateful for his sincerity, courtesy and sense of responsibility.”

She further wrote, “This initiative of standing by us on behalf of the state in this difficult time has personally reassured me and also further strengthened my trust in the state as a citizen.”

Mentioning that the greatest strength of a democratic state is the people, Badhon said, “When the state plays a responsible role in protecting the security, dignity and rights of the people, the place of trust of citizens becomes stronger.”

Badhon also expressed gratitude to the Bangladesh government, the head of government, the Bangladesh embassy, the Italian government and police department as well as those at home and abroad who inquired about her and her family members and provided humanitarian assistance and support during the difficult time in Italy.

She said, “This experience has once again reminded me that our greatest strength against injustice, fear and division is unity, courage and the sense of responsibility of humans towards humans.”

Badhon also commented that no compromise should be made on the security, dignity and rights of a citizen even if there are differences of opinion. In her words, “When people are united in favour of justice and truth, the strength to stand against injustice increases many times.”
