Former cricketer Azharuddin takes oath as minister
Former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin took oath as a minister in the Telangana state government of India.
Governor Jishnu Deb Verma administered the oath to him at the Rajyabhavan on Friday.
The Congress-ruled Telangana state government can have a maximum of 18 ministers. In that case, with Azharuddin becoming a minister, the number of ministers in the Telangana state government will be 16.
Azhar said: "I am happy. I thank the top leadership of the party, the common people and the supporters. Whatever responsibility is given to me, I will work honestly for the development of the oppressed people."
