Four Bangladeshi-origin councillors have made history in the recent municipal elections in France.

Their victories were confirmed after the second round of voting on Sunday (March 22).

The winners are--Nahidul Islam from Saint-Denis, Kaushik Rabbani Khan from Sta, Fahim Mohammad from Creteil and Zubayed Ahmed from Ivry-sur-Seine.

Nahidul Islam, elected from Saint-Denis, has instilled new hope in the local Bangladeshi community by winning from a panel supported by the left-wing political force 'La France Insouciance' (LFI).

On the other hand, Kaushik Rabbani Khan was re-elected in the city of Stail, recognizing his long-standing community involvement.

25-year-old Fahim Mohammad, elected as a candidate for the Socialist Party panel from the city of Creteil, is a bright representative of the young generation. This young man, who overcame various adversities in his childhood and became known as a chess player, is currently working professionally as a financial analyst.

Meanwhile, young cricketer Zubayed Ahmed has been elected as a councilor for the first time in the city of Ivry-sur-Seine. He participated in the election from the panel of the left-wing ‘Front Popular’ alliance and won.

Although several other candidates of Bangladeshi origin contested in this election, according to the latest information available, no one among them has been reported to have won.

According to political analysts, this success is not only a personal achievement, but also a reflection of the growing social and political power of the Bangladeshi community in France. This participation at the local level can also have a positive impact on national politics in the future.
