In Sitakunda, Chattogram, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) expelled four leaders of its volunteer and youth wings over violence and road blockades linked to party nominations.

The announcement was made on Tuesday, November 4, through a press release signed by BNP senior joint secretary Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

The expelled leaders are: Alaudin, president of the Sitakunda Upazila volunteer wing; Helal Uddin Babar, general secretary; Md. Mamun, municipal convener; and Momin Uddin, general secretary of the Sonaichhari Union youth wing.

The release stated that the leaders were involved in violent incidents, clashes, and road blockades in Kadomrasul, Bhatyari Bazaar, and Jalil Gate areas after Monday evening, activities deemed against public interest.

It was further noted that the expelled leaders were followers of former BNP joint secretary Aslam Chowdhury, who became aggrieved after not receiving the nomination for Chattogram-4 constituency.

On Monday evening, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the list of candidates for 237 constituencies from the party headquarters in Gulshan, Dhaka.
