Foreign ministers from four countries held a high-level meeting in Islamabad to explore ways to de-escalate tensions and ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

The meeting began Sunday at Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, officials said, citing a report by Associated Press.

Footage aired by Pakistan Television showed Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar welcoming his counterparts—Hakan Fidan of Turkey, Badr Abdelatty of Egypt, and Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud of Saudi Arabia.

Officials said the meeting would review progress in indirect talks between Washington and Tehran and discuss ways to strengthen diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.

Earlier, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a phone conversation with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian, exchanging views on the evolving regional situation.
