Fox Sports offers $50,000 dream job to watch entire World Cup

Fox Sports has teamed up with job portal Indeed to hire a 'Chief World Cup Watcher' who will be paid $50,000 to watch all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup .

The selected candidate will watch every minute of the tournament from a custom-built glass viewing space in the heart of New York City's Times Square . The matches will be streamed live in 4K on Fox One, Fox's official streaming platform for the World Cup .

Beyond watching the matches, the hired person will also be required to create and share social media content throughout the tournament, turning each game into a live watch party for thousands of tourists and commuters passing by Times Square .

"This World Cup will be a historic tournament that calls for an equally historic hire," said Robert Gottlieb, President of Marketing at Fox Sports . "One engaged applicant will get the job of a lifetime to experience and celebrate every story, every nation and every exhilarating moment that defines the beautiful game," he added.

The role will officially begin on June 6, when the winner will be revealed live during Fox's broadcast of the Boston Red Sox vs New York Yankees baseball game . The duty will conclude on July 26, one week after the World Cup final .

The 2026 World Cup, featuring 48 teams, will be held across the United States, Canada and Mexico from June 11 to July 19 .

Interested candidates must update their Indeed profile and set preferences to 'Employers can find you' so the Fox Sports recruiting team can review their profiles . Applicants must also share a short video on social media explaining why they are the right person for the job, using the hashtag #ChiefWorldCupWatcher . The application deadline is May 17 .
