Free sanitary napkin distribution to continue at Book Fair

Bangla Academy announced that the free distribution of sanitary napkins at the Amar Ekushey Book Fair will continue.

In a press release on Sunday (February 16), the academy confirmed this information.

According to the press release, sanitary napkins will be provided near the washrooms for women and children. Although the event management company Dreamer Donkey was operating with the support of sponsors, it failed to follow the set guidelines. Since they were selling various products in the fair without permission, action was taken against them.

Initially, the event management company stated that they would provide free sanitary napkins and diapers near the washrooms. However, the fair authorities later found that the company was selling other items alongside these products, violating the rules. As a result, the authorities shut down their stall.

Bangla Academy clarified that they do not have any reservations about the use of sanitary napkins and that, following the fair’s policies, free distribution will continue. In previous years, essential supplies were also provided free of charge, and this initiative will continue.

The press release expressed regret for the situation and assured that free sanitary napkin distribution near the washrooms will go on as planned.
