Fresh clashes in Delhi, 16 metro stations shut amid protests

Fresh clashes erupted between protesters and police in New Delhi on Thursday as demonstrations led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) intensified, leaving five police personnel injured and forcing the closure of 16 metro stations.

According to Hindustan Times, violence broke out near Parliament Street after police used tear gas to disperse protesters. A section of demonstrators allegedly responded by pelting stones and chasing police officers.

Delhi Police said the injured include two Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs), an inspector, a head constable and a constable.

Police alleged that violence intensified near the Park Hotel on Parliament Street after a section of protesters turned unruly. Authorities also claimed that one police officer was chased and assaulted during the confrontation.

Amid growing security concerns, authorities suspended operations at 16 Delhi Metro stations, causing widespread disruption to commuters across the capital.

Volunteer marshals appealed for calm, warning that violence could undermine the protest movement.
