Full-strength Australia squad a recognition of Bangladesh's progress, says Shanto

Bangladesh Test captain Najmul Hossain Shanto believes Australia's decision to name a full-strength squad for the upcoming two-match Test series reflects the growing respect Bangladesh has earned in international cricket.

Speaking to reporters after the Notun Kuri final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Shanto described the selection as a significant achievement for Bangladesh.

"We haven't seen this before in Bangladesh cricket," he said. "In the past, many teams experimented with their squads when they toured Bangladesh. This time, Australia have announced a full-strength squad. I see that as an achievement for our team."

Shanto said the series presents an excellent opportunity for Bangladesh to test themselves against one of the world's strongest sides.

"They're coming with one of their best possible teams, which is also a great opportunity for us. We'll have the chance to show how well we can perform against them. Looking at their squad, it's clear they are not taking this series lightly," he added.

Australia's squad includes experienced fast bowlers Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc and Scott Boland, while Nathan Lyon will lead the spin attack. The batting line-up features Steve Smith, Marnus Labuschagne and Travis Head, with all-rounders Cameron Green and Beau Webster adding further balance to the side.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh fast bowler Ebadot Hossain has withdrawn from the Australia tour due to family commitments. He has opted to stay with his wife and newborn child, although he could cut short his leave and join the squad if required to strengthen the pace attack.

The first Test of the two-match series will be played in Darwin from August 13 to 17, while the second and final Test will take place in Mackay from August 22 to 26.
