Newly crowned Lanka Premier League champions Galle Gladiators are exploring the possibility of acquiring a franchise in the Bangladesh Premier League, with preliminary discussions already underway with Bangladesh Cricket Board officials, a representative of the ownership group said.

The interest comes just two days after Galle defeated Jaffna Kings in the LPL final to claim the title. Buoyed by their success in Sri Lanka, the franchise is now considering expanding its presence into Bangladesh’s franchise cricket market.

A representative of the ownership group said discussions with the BCB would receive greater attention following the conclusion of the LPL, adding that the possibility of entering the BPL is being taken seriously.

The franchise is also attracted by Bangladesh's strong cricket culture and the size and enthusiasm of its fan base, the representative said.

"Cricket is hugely popular in Bangladesh, just as it is in India and Pakistan. The passion of Bangladeshi fans is particularly strong, and we would like to participate in the BPL if the opportunity arises," the representative said.

The ownership group described Galle's LPL title as the result of a challenging four-month campaign that began in April. Despite a series of setbacks and fluctuations in form, the team eventually secured the championship through careful planning and execution, with the representative crediting the players and coaching staff for the achievement.

The franchise also revealed that it had hoped to have Bangladesh batter Litton Das in its squad for the LPL season but was ultimately unable to secure his services.

The representative said the team missed Litton throughout the tournament, although Bangladesh wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan made important contributions at key moments.

Galle's potential entry would add another international ownership group to the BPL, where franchises have increasingly sought to build teams and brands around Bangladesh’s large cricket audience.
