Ganpoka's Goti Jorota to hit market

‘Ganpoka’ band has started its journey with its first official album. The first song of the album, ‘Goti Jorota’, has been released. The song is being played on the band’s YouTube channel and Facebook page.

The lyrics of the song were written by Chanchal Mahmud while the music video was produced by Mahmudul Hasan and the animation was done by Mustakim Alvi.

The band members said that instead of releasing the entire album together, they plan to release each song separately with music videos. In that vein, ‘Goti Jorota’ has been released on May Day.

The band’s vocalist Rashiduzzaman Rashid said, "This is our first official release after a long wait. This is not just a song, but the beginning of a new journey for us."

Explaining the reason for choosing May Day to release the first song, Rashid said that they feel comfortable seeing themselves as ‘workers of songs’. The purpose of choosing this day was to honor the talent and hard work of working people and to express solidarity with working people around the world.

The group dedicated their first album to two of their late members—the lyricist of the song ‘Ambagane’, Mahmud Hasan Tarek, and the lyricist Hasnat Pradhan. The song ‘Nadi’, written by Pradhan, received special praise from the audience.

Although ‘Goti Jorota’ is a song from the first album, Gaanpoka has previously won the hearts of the audience with the songs ‘O Nadi, Bondhuar Khobor Ene De’, ‘Piriti Nahi Amar Kaaz’ and ‘Hridoyo Pinjiraar Posha Pakhi’.

The current members of the band are Rashiduzzaman Rashid (vocals and dotara), Mithun Hasan (khamok and vocals), Rawshan Kabir Bipul (dotara), Nazmul Nishan (percussion), Abdullah Al Noman (bass guitar), Benamchandra Barman and Ramanuj Chakraborty Apu (drums) and Anindya Biswas (guitar).
