Gaza death toll exceeds 63,000, 332 starved to death
Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have claimed the lives of 66 more Palestinians in a single day, with at least 345 others injured. The death toll in the besieged Gaza Strip has now surpassed 63,000 since the conflict began. In addition, ten individuals, including three children, have died as a result of hunger and malnutrition imposed by Israel.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, the death toll over the past 22 months has reached 63,371, with at least 159,835 people injured. Meanwhile, in the UN-declared famine-stricken enclave, 332 people, including 124 children, have died from hunger.
Al Jazeera, citing medical sources, reported that on Friday (August 29), 15 of the deaths were caused by Israeli airstrikes, while the remaining 23 were killed by random gunfire from Israeli forces as they gathered humanitarian aid at Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) centers. Since GHF’s establishment on May 27, a total of 2,218 individuals seeking assistance have been killed, and more than 16,434 others have been injured.
Local residents told Turkish news agency Anadolu that Israeli forces are escalating airstrikes on the Shujaiya, Zaytoun, and Sabra areas in Gaza City, aiming to forcibly displace residents. Gaza’s Civil Defense Agency reported that over 1,500 homes in southern Zaytoun have been destroyed, leaving no buildings standing. Many families are fleeing their homes, heading toward the coast.
