Gaza war ends: Trump
US President Donald Trump has declared an end to Israel’s war with Hamas in Gaza after the historic exchange of prisoners.
On Monday, October 13, as part of a truce agreement, live hostages were handed over by Hamas to Israel, and the bodies of the deceased hostages were returned. Israel also released numerous Palestinian detainees to their families.
The Red Cross confirmed the transfer of 20 live Israeli hostages from Gaza. Thousands gathered at Israel’s “Hostage Square” in Tel Aviv, greeting the news with joy, embraces and tears.
Simultaneously, buses carrying more than 2,000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees arrived in Gaza, where waiting relatives welcomed them with tears and celebration.
President Trump, on a Middle East visit, addressed Israel’s parliament, the Knesset, declaring, “The skies are peaceful, the weapons are silent, the sirens have ceased — and at last peace reigns in the holy land.” He added that the outcome marked the end of a “long nightmare” for Israelis and Palestinians alike.
Following his address, Trump joined a “Peace Summit” in Sharm El-Sheikh along with leaders from Egypt and Europe to discuss the future of Gaza. He signed a joint declaration with leaders from Egypt, Qatar and Turkey, pledging collective efforts for Gaza’s peace.
