Ghana secured a dramatic 1-0 victory over Panama in their World Cup Group L opener in Toronto, with Caleb Yeremky scoring in stoppage time to give the Black Stars all three points.

Panama started the match strongly and created a golden chance in the second minute, but Cecilio Waterman's effort was brilliantly saved by Ghana goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi. Panama dominated possession and attacks in the first half, with Jose Luis Rodriguez, Waterman and Murillo troubling the Ghanaian defence, but they could not find the breakthrough.

Ghana struggled to find their rhythm early on, with many of their attacks breaking down in midfield. However, they grew into the game as the first half progressed, with Kamaldeen Sulemana, Andre Ayew and Semenyo leading their attacks. The first half ended goalless.

After the break, Ghana became more aggressive. Tactical changes from the coach brought positive results, and they created several chances but lacked the final finish. Panama also tried to counter-attack, but their intensity dropped in the second half.

With the match heading towards a goalless draw, Yeremky scored in the fifth minute of stoppage time, capitalising on a gap in the Panama defence to send the ball into the net. Panama pushed forward in the final moments, even sending goalkeeper Orlando Mosquera up for attacks, but they could not find an equaliser.

The final whistle confirmed Ghana's 1-0 victory, giving them a perfect start to their World Cup campaign.
