La Liga’s title race is reaching a fever pitch, with defending champions Real Madrid locked in a tight contest with arch-rivals Barcelona. Both sides have played 33 matches, with Barcelona topping the table on 76 points, just four ahead of Real Madrid’s 72.

Real Madrid kept their title hopes alive with a narrow 1-0 win over Getafe on Wednesday (April 23), courtesy of a goal from Arda Güler. As the La Liga title race intensifies, every match has become crucial—dropping even a single point could prove costly. With just five games remaining, both Real Madrid and Barcelona are expected to stay fully focused in their pursuit of the championship.

Real Madrid will face Celta Vigo on May 4 in their next La Liga fixture, followed by the much-anticipated El Clásico against Barcelona on May 11 — a clash that could determine the league champion. Before that, the two sides are set to square off in the Copa del Rey final on April 27.

In their recent outing at the Coliseum against Getafe, Real Madrid entered the pitch focused on claiming all three points. Their breakthrough came in the 21st minute when Arda Güler fired in a superb goal to give his team a 1-0 lead — a scoreline that remained until the final whistle. With star forward Kylian Mbappé sidelined due to suspension, head coach Carlo Ancelotti placed his trust in the younger players, who delivered by holding their lead and securing a vital victory.
