Goalless France-Senegal match at half-time
France and Senegal were tied at half-time in the much-awaited Group ‘I’ match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Both teams created a few good chances in the match held at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, but neither found the net in the end.
France had a slight lead in possession from the start of the match. The attack consisting of Kylian Mbappe, Ousmane Dembele and Michael Olise put pressure on the Senegalese defense several times, but could not score. On the other hand, Senegal also created some great moments on the counterattack, keeping the French defense busy.
One of the most notable chances of the first half came from Senegal. An effort by Nicholas Jackson hit the post, which came as a big warning to France. In addition, the dynamic attacks of Sadio Mane and Ismaila Sarr also put pressure on the French defense several times.
Senegal, who made history by defeating France in the 2002 World Cup, is giving a tough competition again. On the other hand, World Cup hopeful France is expected to play more attacking football in the second half in search of goals.
