The price of gold has increased once again in the country's market ahead of Eid-ul-Azha. The price of 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has been raised by Tk 2,158 to Tk 2,38,121. The price of traditional method gold has been set at Tk 1,58,689 per bhori.

The new prices came into effect on Wednesday, May 27. The Bangladesh Jewellers' Association announced the price hike in a notification on Monday, May 25, stating that the increase was due to a rise in the price of pure gold in the local market.

Under the new prices, 21-carat gold per bhori has been set at Tk 2,27,331, while 18-carat gold per bhori has been set at Tk 1,94,847.

Earlier last Saturday, BAJUS had reduced gold prices by Tk 2,158 per bhori. The price increase within a few days has drawn mixed reactions from customers.
