Gold prices rise again after three consecutive price cuts

After reducing prices three times, the Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) has decided to increase the price of gold in the domestic market. BAJUS said that this adjustment has been made considering the overall situation due to the increase in the price of pure gold in the local market.

In a notification on Thursday (May 21), the organization said that the new price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk 2,158 per bhori to Tk 2,38,121. The new price came into effect from 10 am today.

According to the notification, the new fixed gold price (per bhori) is 22 carat: Tk 2,38,121; 21 carat: Tk 2,27,331; 18 carat: Tk 1,94,847; Traditional gold: Tk 1,58,689. Earlier, the price of gold was reduced on Wednesday morning. At that time, the price of 22 carats was reduced by Tk2,158 to Tk2,35,963. On that day, 21 carats were Tk2,25,232, 18 carats Tk1,93,039 and traditional method Tk1,57,231.

According to Bajus, the price of gold has been adjusted 67 times so far this year. Of these, the price has increased 36 times and decreased 31 times. In 2025, a total of 93 adjustments were made, of which the price increased 64 times and decreased 29 times.

Despite the increase in the price of gold, the price of silver in the domestic market has remained unchanged. Silver 22 carats: Tk5,657; 21 carats: Tk5,365; 18 carats: Tk4,607; traditional method: Tk3,441. So far this year, the price of silver has been adjusted 39 times, of which it has increased 21 times and decreased 18 times. There were a total of 13 adjustments in 2025, of which 10 were increases and three were decreases.
