Google has introduced a new desktop app for Windows, bringing its AI model Gemini directly to PC users for a more integrated experience.

According to a report by Engadget, the app allows users to perform AI-powered search, locate files, and use screen-sharing features seamlessly from their computers.

The app places a strong emphasis on AI functionality, particularly Gemini, while still allowing users to bypass the chatbot if they prefer a traditional experience.

Once installed, users can open the search interface using the “Alt + Space” shortcut. Standard queries return web results similar to Google Search, while an AI mode enables deeper exploration with follow-up questions.

Beyond web search, the app can also retrieve information from local files, installed applications, and Google Drive. It further integrates screen-sharing capabilities, allowing users to leverage Google Lens to analyze on-screen content.

The app has been rolled out globally in English since Wednesday and is compatible with Windows 10 and later versions, including Windows 11.
