Google offers students one year of free Gemini Pro, 400GB cloud storage
Google has launched a major education-focused offer giving university students one year of free access to its Gemini AI Pro plan along with 400GB of cloud storage under its 'Back to School' programme.
According to Google, the offer became available globally on Friday (August 21), allowing eligible students to use Gemini's premium features for 12 months. They will also receive higher usage limits than standard users and access to 400GB of cloud storage. Students can additionally get discounts of up to 70 per cent on Google AI Pro and YouTube Premium subscriptions.
Students enrolled at recognised universities in Bangladesh are also eligible. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, have a personal Gmail account and provide proof of current university enrolment. A valid student ID or proof of payment for the latest semester’s fees can be used for verification.
To apply, students need to sign in with their personal Gmail account and visit Google One's student offer page. After selecting the 'Get student offer' option and choosing Bangladesh, they must provide their university and personal details and upload a student ID or a recent tuition-fee receipt.
Google will review the submitted information before activating the offer. Students may also be required to add a payment card that supports international transactions. Eligible options may include dual-currency debit or credit cards enabled for international use or valid virtual dollar cards. No charge is generally made during the one-year promotional period, although users should check the renewal terms before the trial ends.
Gemini Pro offers advanced AI tools that can assist students with academic and research-related tasks, including coding, data analysis, complex mathematical problems and explaining difficult concepts. It can also help prepare drafts for assignments, reports, presentations and quizzes.
The offer could therefore give university students greater access to advanced AI tools for learning, research and academic productivity at no cost for the first year
