Government orders release of four prisoners ahead of Eid-ul-Azha
The government has ordered the release of four prisoners from different jails across the country through remission of their remaining sentences ahead of the holy Eid-ul-Azha.
The decision was confirmed on Sunday (May 24) by Assistant Inspector General of Prisons (Development and Media) Mohammad Jannat-Ul Farhad, who said the inmates would be released shortly after the completion of necessary formalities.
The prisoners approved for release are Mohammad Islam Sheikh from Khulna District Jail, Nayeem Sikdar from Faridpur District Jail, Abdul Malek from Chuadanga District Jail, and Palash Barua from Rangamati District Jail.
According to prison authorities, the sentence remission was granted on special humanitarian consideration marking the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. Officials said all legal and administrative procedures are currently being completed to ensure their formal release from custody.
The move comes as part of the government’s traditional practice of granting limited clemency to selected inmates during major religious occasions.
