Govt denounces Israeli strike that killed 2 Bangladeshis
Bangladesh strongly condemned the killing of two Bangladeshi nationals in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon on Tuesday (May 12). The information was disclosed in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
The government expressed deep sorrow and condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and said the Bangladesh Embassy in Lebanon was working to repatriate the bodies.
The ministry said authorities were also maintaining contact with the victims’ families. Bangladesh once again voiced grave concern over the continuing violence in the region and the loss of civilian lives, urging all sides to exercise maximum restraint and comply with international humanitarian law.
The strike took place around noon on Monday local time in the Zebdine area of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon. The victims were identified as Shafiqul Islam, a resident of Satkhira Sadar, and Md Nahidul Islam Nahid from Assasuni in Satkhira district.
