Gulshan Society forms human chain demanding justice for Ramisa's murder
Gulshan Society has formed a human chain demanding speedy trial and exemplary punishment for the rape and murder of seven-year-old Ramisa in Pallabi, Dhaka.
People from different classes and professions participated in the human chain organized at Gulshan-2 roundabout on Friday morning (May 22).
Gulshan Society Secretary General Mujibur Rahman Mridha led the program. Joint Secretary Joya Kabir, Khadem Mohammad Rayyan Sadid and Women and Children Affairs Chairman Kamrunnahar also spoke.
Mujibur Rahman Mridha said at the rally, we are deeply saddened by such incidents. We are deeply concerned about the safety of children. Ramisa's rape and murder is a disgrace to humanity. We do not want such an unsafe Bangladesh.
He called on the government and the judiciary to ensure speedy and fair justice and said, we do not want a lengthy trial. The maximum punishment must be ensured for this heinous crime.
Other speakers said that it is the responsibility of the state and society to ensure a safe childhood for children. Due to the lengthy trial process, criminals often escape through loopholes in the law. Therefore, it is important to ensure speedy trial and effective punishment to prevent such incidents in the future.
The speakers also said that if the trial is delayed, crime rates in the society may increase. Therefore, the maximum punishment must be ensured for the accused in the Ramisa murder case.
It is worth noting that last Tuesday (May 19), the police recovered the slit body of child Ramisa from a house in Pallavi in the capital. Sohel Rana, the tenant of the adjacent flat, has been arrested in this incident. The accused also gave a statement in court, admitting responsibility.
