Haaland breaks Ivorian hearts with late winner in Dallas
Erling Haaland has done it again. The prolific Norwegian talisman struck a devastating blow in the 86th minute to restore Norway's lead, leaving Côte d'Ivoire shell-shocked just as they looked primed to complete a second-half comeback.
Just twelve minutes after Amad Diallo had brought the Elephants level with a beautifully worked 74th-minute equalizer, Haaland showed his world-class instincts. Finding a pocket of space inside a crowded penalty area, the Manchester City striker latched onto a decisive pass and clinically dispatched it home, silencing the roaring Ivorian sections of Dallas Stadium.
The late goal leaves Côte d'Ivoire with a massive mountain to climb as the game enters stoppage time. Having played excellent, proactive football and dictating the tempo for most of the match, the Ivorians find themselves incredibly unfortunate to be trailing once more to a ruthless Norwegian side that capitalizes on the slightest defensive lapse.
Norway opened the scoring back in the 39th minute courtesy of a brilliant curling effort from Antonio Nusa, before Diallo sparked a roaring second-half response from the African giants. Now, with Haaland's late intervention, Norway has one foot firmly in the Round of 16.
