Haiti coach praises player's fighting spirit despite World Cup exit
Haiti head coach Sébastien Migné has praised his players for their determination despite being eliminated from the World Cup following a 3–0 defeat to Brazil.
Speaking after the match, Migné said two first-half goals conceded due to inexperience made it extremely difficult for his side to recover against a team of Brazil’s calibre.
“Once you concede two goals against a team like Brazil, it becomes harder every minute to come back into the game,” he said.
While acknowledging mistakes that proved costly, the Haitian coach expressed satisfaction with his team’s overall performance on the global stage.
“Our players have shown they are capable of competing at the World Cup level. But at this stage, everything has to be perfect, and we made some errors,” he added.
Migné also reflected on Haiti’s early exit from the tournament, calling it unfortunate but encouraging given the team’s long absence from the World Cup.
“Unfortunately, we are out. Other results went against us. But returning to the World Cup after 52 years is a major achievement for us,” he said.
Looking ahead, the coach stressed the need for continued development and learning from top-level opposition such as Brazil.
“They were clearly better than us. Now we must learn from this experience and move forward,” he noted.
Haiti will face Morocco in their final group match, with the coach hopeful of a stronger performance against the former semi-finalists.
