The country’s highest civilian honour, the Independence Award 2026, was conferred in recognition of outstanding contributions at the national level. The award was presented to 15 distinguished individuals and five organizations by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.

Among this year’s recipients, celebrated director and television presenter Hanif Sanket received the honour for his exceptional contribution to the cultural sector.

After receiving the award, Hanif Sanket shared a photograph with the Prime Minister on social media and expressed his gratitude and emotions.

He dedicated the achievement to his audience, saying that the recognition did not belong to him alone.

“This achievement is not mine alone. It belongs to everyone whose love, support, and encouragement made my long journey in the cultural field possible. Therefore, I dedicate this award to my beloved viewers,” he said.

The veteran media personality, who has worked for decades to promote healthy cultural content, said he has never worked with the expectation of receiving awards.

“I have never produced programs thinking about awards. If I had, this long journey would not have been possible. I have always worked with responsibility and a sense of duty,” he added.

He further said that the recognition would inspire him to continue his work in the future.

“This award will motivate and encourage me to move forward and continue working with greater dedication,” he said.
