Harry Kane’s hat-trick powers Bayern to 6–0 victory
Bayern Munich kicked off the new season in impressive style, thrashing RB Leipzig 6–0 on Friday night.
Harry Kane, the standout player of the match, netted a hat-trick in just 13 minutes, between the 64th and 77th minutes. This marks the fastest hat-trick in a season opener since 1971, when Schalke legend Klaus Fischer scored three goals in 12 minutes.
Kane’s new teammates also made an impact. Michael Olise scored twice, while Luis Diaz, who recently joined from Liverpool, added another goal. Bayern took an early lead in the first half with Olise’s two goals and Diaz’s impressive strike. After halftime, Kane took control of the match, with Diaz assisting two of his goals. Since joining Bayern from Tottenham in 2023, this is Kane’s ninth hat-trick for the club.
At the final whistle, the 32-year-old England captain received a standing ovation as he was substituted. Kane said after the match, “When we were 3–0 at halftime, I knew I had to get my name on the scoresheet as well.”
Bayern captain Joshua Kimmich lauded his teammate, saying, “Kane doesn’t just score goals—he sets up his teammates and contributes defensively. That’s his biggest contribution to the team.”
