Bangladesh national team pacer Hasan Mahmud has earned the opportunity to play county cricket in England for the first time. Kent, a traditional county club, has officially announced signing him. He thus becomes the second Bangladeshi cricketer after Shakib Al Hasan to play county cricket.

Despite being sidelined for several months due to injury, Hasan recently returned to the field for Legends of Rupganj in the Dhaka Premier League, after which the doors to county cricket opened for him.

In a press release from Kent, an elated Hasan said, "Getting the opportunity to play for a traditional club like Kent is a matter of pride for me. Playing county cricket has always been my dream. This is a proud moment not only for me but for Bangladesh cricket as well."

Under the agreement, he will play a total of six matches in the County Championship for Kent. His county debut could come in the match against Lancashire from June 12 to 15. He will then play another match against Canterbury from June 19 to 22. After these two matches, he will return home but will go back to England in September to play the remaining four matches of the season.

Regarding his new challenge, Hasan said he will give his best to contribute to the team's success. He also said he has already discussed his role with Kent's head coach Adam Hollioake and director of cricket Simon Cook.

Kent's director of cricket Simon Cook welcomed Hasan's inclusion, saying the arrival of this pacer with international experience will strengthen the team's bowling attack and add a new dimension to the squad.

Previously, only Shakib Al Hasan from Bangladesh had played county cricket, representing Worcestershire and Surrey at various times. Now Hasan Mahmud is set to join that list.
