Hasan’s hat-trick, Ebadot’s four-for crush Afghanistan for 240
Hasan Mahmud and Ebadot Hossain tore through Afghanistan’s batting line-up on the third morning of the Abu Dhabi Test, bowling the visitors out for 240 to give Bangladesh a 106-run first-innings lead.
Hasan claimed five wickets, including a hat-trick, while Ebadot took four as Afghanistan lost their final six wickets for just 29 runs after resuming the day at 211 for four.
Afghanistan had looked well placed at the close of the second day, with Rahmat Shah and Ikram Alikhil building a promising partnership. But Ebadot broke through early on Sunday (October 11), bowling Ikram for 32 to end their 80-run stand.
Hasan then produced a devastating spell in the 83rd over, dismissing Ismat, Qais Ahmad and Ziaur Rahman in three consecutive deliveries to complete his hat-trick. He later removed Yamin Ahmadzai to finish with five wickets.
Hasan became the first Bangladeshi fast bowler to take a Test hat-trick and only the third Bangladesh bowler to achieve the feat, after spinners Alok Kapali and Sohag Gazi. He also reached 50 Test wickets in the quickest time in his career.
Rahmat remained unbeaten on 105, registering his fourth Test century, but received little support as Afghanistan were dismissed for 240.
Hasan finished with five wickets for 55 runs, while Ebadot claimed four for 56. Mehidy Hasan Miraz took the other wicket.
With a 106-run advantage secured, Bangladesh will look to build a substantial second-innings lead and strengthen their position in the match.
