After the intense heat and sweltering weather throughout the day, the afternoon rain has finally brought some relief to the capital. On Sunday (June 21), the sky suddenly became covered with clouds around 4:30 pm. Then, the rain started with gusty winds, which spread to different areas of the capital.

Rainfall was reported in various areas including Dhanmondi, Kalabagan, Farmgate, Banglamotor, Shahbag, Tejgaon. Although the rain brought some relief to the city residents who were suffering from the hot and humid weather for the past few days, it became a new source of suffering for many as it was office holidays.

The rain slowed down the speed of vehicles on various roads in the capital. Many working people, students and pedestrians returning home after office hours were caught in the rain. Numerous people were seen taking shelter at bus stands and footpaths. At the same time, traffic jams were created on several important roads, disrupting the normal movement of the busy city.

The Meteorological Department has said that the rainfall trend may continue in different parts of the country in the next 48 hours. The forecast for the next 48 hours from 9 am on Sunday says that there may be moderate to heavy rainfall in some places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions.

In addition, there is a possibility of temporary gusty winds, lightning and thundershowers in many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions and some areas in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barisal divisions by 9 am on Monday. Moderate rain may also occur in some places.

Meteorologists say that rainfall may increase in different parts of the country due to the influence of monsoon winds. As a result, although the temperature has decreased slightly, everyone has been advised to be alert during thunderstorms and heavy rains.

Although this afternoon rain has brought temporary relief from the heat of the capital, the suffering of office-going people and traffic jams have once again brought to the fore the familiar picture of urban life.
