Hema Malini, family lambast fake death rumors about Dharmendra

Bollywood veteran Dharmendra is alive and recovering in hospital. Some false reports of his death circulated on social media and some news outlets distracted his fans worldwide.

Actress Hema Malini, his wife, called the rumors “utterly inexcusable” on Tuesday (November 11), urging media and the public to respect the family’s privacy.

“He is responding to treatment and is recovering in hospital,” she said in a post of her X handle.

Daughter Esha Deol added that Dharmendra is “much better now” and asked for the false news to stop.

The 88-year-old actor was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital with respiratory issues. Celebrities including Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Ayan Khan, Govinda, and Ameesha Patel visited him on Monday night.

Known as Bollywood’s “He-Man,” Dharmendra has appeared in over 240 films across a six-decade career.
