Several Bangladesh cricketers have made significant progress in the latest ICC Test rankings following the team’s historic 104-run victory over Pakistan national cricket team in the opening Test of the series at Mirpur.

The win marked Bangladesh’s first victory in the current World Test Championship cycle and was powered by standout performances from both the batters and bowlers.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front with a match-winning all-round batting display. After scoring a century in the first innings, Shanto followed it up with a crucial 87-run knock in the second innings, earning the Player of the Match award. His impressive performance saw him climb 16 places to joint 23rd in the ICC Test batting rankings — also securing a career-best rating.

Among other Bangladesh batters, Mushfiqur Rahim moved up two spots to 26th, while Mominul Haque jumped 12 places to join the 35th after solid contributions in the Test.

Bangladesh bowlers also enjoyed notable gains in the rankings following their dominant performance against Pakistan.

Left-arm spinner Taijul Islam, who claimed four wickets in each innings, advanced three places to 13th in the ICC Test bowling rankings.

Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed returned to the rankings after a long absence following his four-wicket performance in the match and is now placed 48th.

Meanwhile, young pacer Nahid Rana played a decisive role in Bangladesh’s victory with a five-wicket haul in the second innings. The fiery spell helped him raise five spots to 64th in the latest rankings.

The ranking surge reflects Bangladesh’s growing confidence and impact in the longer format as the team continues its World Test Championship campaign with renewed momentum.
