Hollywood’s highly anticipated movie ‘Practical Magic 2’ has indicated a strong position at the box office even before release. The film has earned 4.7 million US dollars from Thursday’s preview screenings. As a result analysts believe that a downturn may now come in the dominance of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ which has been at the top of the box office for six consecutive weeks.

It has been forecast that this fantasy genre sequel of Warner Bros may earn 30 to 40 million dollars in the first week of release in North America. Another 18 to 25 million dollars may also come from the international market. According to that calculation the worldwide earnings of the film in the first week may reach 48 to 65 million dollars. About 75 million dollars has been spent on making the movie.

The new movie has been made in the continuity of the story of the popular ‘Practical Magic’ of 1998. After nearly 25 years Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman have returned to the screen again as the characters of Sally and Gillian Owens. Along with the magical life of the two sisters this time the centre of the story is their struggle to break the family curse.

According to the story, there is a terrible curse on the Owens family. The man with whom any woman of the family falls in love ultimately dies. This time Sally and Gillian will embark on a new adventure to get free from that curse. Sally’s two daughters Kylie and Antonia will also join this journey.

Besides Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in the main two characters, Joey King, Maisie Williams, Stockard Channing, Dianne Wiest, Lee Pace, Jolo Mardueña and Solly McLeod have also acted in the movie directed by Susanne Bier. The film was released in the international market on September 9 and in North America on September 11.

Meanwhile Disney’s music documentary ‘Oasis: Don’t Look Back in Anger’ has been released at the same time. It is being assumed that the film may earn 5 to 7 million dollars in the first week. Various moments of the highly discussed world tour of the two brothers of Oasis Liam Gallagher and Noel Gallagher who returned together after a long break have been highlighted in it.
