Hollywood actor Patrick Godfrey passes away
Veteran British actor Patrick Godfrey, widely known for his roles in Ever After and Les Misérables, has died at the age of 93.
His death was confirmed by London-based talent agency Markham, Froggatt & Irwin, which said Godfrey passed away peacefully at his home on June 4, surrounded by family members.
Born in London on February 13, 1933, Godfrey began his acting career with the BBC Radio Drama Company before establishing himself as a respected performer across theatre, television and film. His breakthrough came through the television adaptation of Miss Julie, produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1972, which helped pave the way for a distinguished career spanning several decades.
Throughout his career, Godfrey appeared in a number of acclaimed productions, including A Room with a View, Clockwise, Maurice, The Count of Monte Cristo, Oliver Twist and Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle. His performance alongside Drew Barrymore in Ever After remains one of the most memorable highlights of his screen career.
Godfrey also enjoyed a strong presence on television, appearing in popular series such as Doctor Who, Midsomer Murders, Doc Martin and His Dark Materials.
Beyond film and television, he lent his voice to several major video games, including BioShock 2, Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption 2.
Godfrey is survived by his wife, actress Amanda Walker, and their two children. His passing marks the end of a remarkable career that left a lasting impact on theatre, film and television.
