Several Hollywood figures have sharply criticised US President Donald Trump following joint US-Israeli strikes on multiple sites in Tehran and other parts of Iran.

President Trump described the operation as a “major military action,” carried out amid ongoing negotiations over Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile programmes, reports BBC.

American musician Jack White questioned the administration’s decision-making process, saying on social media that a president’s declaration of war warrants strict scrutiny in both procedure and rhetoric. He also cast doubt on Trump’s peace pledges, referencing earlier proposals related to Gaza.

Comedian Rosie O'Donnell accused Trump of contradicting his campaign promises, arguing that the military move conflicts with his prior commitments.

Actor Mark Ruffalo said bypassing diplomatic channels risks pushing the situation further toward open conflict.

Meanwhile, John Cusack suggested the escalation could serve to divert public attention from domestic issues.

Actress Carrie Coon criticised the administration’s military posture, referring to it sarcastically as a “Department of War.”
