Concern has grown across Bangladesh over the safety of nearly 400 Bangladeshis living in Tehran, Iran, amid the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.

On Tuesday, the Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran relocated 40 staff members, including diplomats, to safer locations. However, uncertainty remains about the rest of the Bangladeshi community. By Wednesday, officials confirmed that Bangladeshis residing in Tehran remain safe with no reported injuries or damage so far.

Gazi Abdur Rashid, senior journalist and presenter for Radio Tehran’s Bengali service, shared a video update stating, “Bangladeshis are currently safe. The embassy has started moving residents to secure locations.”

He cautioned, however, that the situation is deteriorating rapidly, causing widespread anxiety. Rashid described Tehran as a city under siege, with the sounds of drone and missile strikes shaking the area since Tuesday night. Despite Iran’s defense efforts, explosions have occurred in multiple locations.

Tehran’s residents are enduring extreme uncertainty amid direct threats from Netanyahu and Donald Trump urging evacuation. A warning was issued last night for attacks on District 18, prompting many to flee to safer areas. Streets are largely deserted with minimal traffic.

Rashid added that Tehran is enveloped in a tense silence as most people avoid leaving their homes unless absolutely necessary. Iran’s defense forces claim to have intercepted most attacks but acknowledge some damage.

Iranian missiles continue to fly over Tel Aviv, marking a series of retaliatory strikes between the two countries. Meanwhile, the people of Tehran face growing fear and anxiety.

The Bangladesh government and embassy report no casualties among Bangladeshi citizens so far. However, officials warn that the situation could worsen if swift improvements are not made.
