How many players are fortunate enough to have their birthday fall during the Football World Cup? This refers to Lionel Messi, who turned 39 today. His birthday was celebrated with his teammates in the United States.

"Happy Birthday Messi"—this post has been appearing everywhere on social media today.

The Argentine star forward has received countless well-wishes from football lovers, and though he might not have been able to reply to everyone, his teammates celebrated his birthday by cutting a cake. The Argentine star shared a photo on his official Instagram story, showing a cake placed on a table with the number 39 written on it, along with lit candles on top of the two digits. Standing there alongside Messi were Leandro Paredes, Nicolás Otamendi, Nahuel Molina, Lisandro Martínez, and Giovani Lo Celso.

Not only were the six Argentine footballers present, but a member of the team's supporting staff was also seen with them. Their cheerful faces clearly showed that the Argentina team is a happy family. Following consecutive victories against Algeria and Austria, Argentina advanced to the Round of 32 as the champions of Group J. Messi scored all five of the team's goals, making him the top scorer of the World Cup with 18 goals.

The favorite child of records, the magician—Messi has received so many titles. Like millions of football fans around the world, FIFA also wished the Argentine star a happy birthday. FIFA World Cup posted a video about him on their official Facebook page today at 3:32pm Bangladesh Time. The short 1-minute-22-second video depicted how Argentine fans in the gallery celebrated when Messi played in the World Cup for the first time in 2006. The caption read, "39 years of memories. 39 years of Lionel Messi. On this day in 1987, a star was born."

Since the Football World Cup takes place every four years in June-July, Messi gets the opportunity to celebrate his birthday during the tournament. The only exception was the 2022 Football World Cup, which was held in November-December. Before that, four World Cups from 2006 to 2018 took place during Messi's birthday. In the last edition in Qatar, Messi fulfilled his lifelong dream by winning the World Cup. He has won four titles with Argentina so far, including two Copa Américas, one Finalissima, and one World Cup.
