Towhid Hridoy has found himself at the center of multiple controversies in the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League (DPL). In the recent Super League match against Gazi Group, the Mohammedan captain expressed frustration after his dismissal. On April 27, the umpires lodged a formal complaint against him. Despite being summoned for a hearing, Hridoy opted to skip it.

For breaching Level-1, the match referee handed him one demerit point and imposed a fine of Tk10,000. This punishment is final, with no option for appeal. Hridoy, who already had 7 demerit points, now faces a total of 8. With 8 demerit points, a player is automatically suspended for four matches. Consequently, Hridoy will miss the next four games, including the critical match against arch-rivals Abahani on April 29, which has turned into an unofficial final for Mohammedan.

Earlier, Sharif Uddola Ibn Shahid Saikat, angered by the reduction of Hridoy’s punishment, decided to resign from officiating in domestic cricket.
