I confirm that looted weapons will not be used during the elections: Adviser
Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has confirmed that looted weapons of the police will not be used in the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections.
He said this in his speech as the chief guest after receiving the salute at the graduation parade of the 41st batch of trainee Assistant Superintendents of Police at the parade ground of the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah in Rajshahi on Sunday (January 18) morning.
In response to a question from journalists, the Home Affairs Adviser said, 'I confirm that looted weapons of the police will not be used during the election. Even if weapons come from the borders of neighboring countries, they are being recovered.'
He also said, 'While performing their duties in the upcoming National Parliament election, police members will not accept any financial benefits from any candidate or agent. At the same time, they will not be able to accept food from any candidate's representative. If the 150,000 police officers on duty demonstrate professionalism, this will be the most impartial election in the country's history.'
Stating that the number of militants and extremists in the country has decreased significantly compared to before, he said, 'It can be said that militancy no longer exists. There are fascist militants, but they are staying in other countries. These fascist militants will be brought back and brought to justice.'
