I have no connection with my father's financial dealings: Puja

Actress Puja Chery has said she has no connection with the financial transactions of her father, Debu Prasad Roy, who was recently arrested in a fraud case involving allegations of embezzling over Tk 13 crore in the name of film production.

In a statement posted Sunday morning (April 26) on her verified Facebook page, Puja clarified her position amid media attention surrounding the case filed by complainant Mizanur Rahman.

She said she has been receiving numerous calls and messages following her father’s arrest and related allegations, and felt it necessary to clarify to avoid confusion.

Puja stated that she has no personal or professional involvement in her father’s alleged business activities or financial dealings. She added that she has been working independently in the media industry for the past 10–12 years and fully supports herself through her own earnings.

She further said she is not involved with any production house or business entity linked to film production, and urged that she not be associated with the ongoing legal case.

Calling the situation emotionally distressing, the actress said the matter is entirely a personal legal issue of her father and should be handled by the court. She expressed hope that the investigation will proceed fairly and the truth will come out through due legal process.

Puja also requested media and the public not to link her work or personal life with the ongoing case, and asked for continued support from her fans and well-wishers.
