The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, has stated there is no indication that Iran is currently working to develop nuclear weapons.

In an exclusive interview with Al Jazeera, Grossi said, “We did not find in Iran elements to indicate that there is an active, systematic plan to build a nuclear weapon.”

He added that inspectors have seen no evidence suggesting that a nuclear weapon is being constructed or manufactured in the country.

Grossi’s remarks come just days after the IAEA Board of Governors passed a resolution declaring Iran non-compliant with its nuclear safeguard obligations. The resolution cited Iran’s repeated failure to provide adequate and timely cooperation, particularly concerning unexplained uranium traces found at undeclared sites.
