ICC delegation to observe BCB elections
A delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) is coming to Bangladesh to observe the upcoming elections of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). The BCB announced this information in a press release on Sunday (May 31).
The release said that the ICC delegation is likely to arrive in Bangladesh in the next few days. During the visit, the team will exchange views with various stakeholders related to the election process and will gather information and inform the ICC Board. However, details about the tour schedule or members of the delegation were not given.
The BCB also said that Bangladesh's representatives to the ICC Board and ICC Business Corporation (IBC) Board will be nominated after the election process is completed.
The BCB elections are scheduled to be held on June 7. There have been two rounds of board reshuffles since the political upheaval on August 5, 2024. Currently, an ad hoc committee led by Tamim Iqbal is running the board.
According to the ICC constitution, ensuring transparency and accountability in the governance of member cricket boards is of particular importance. For this reason, the ICC monitors the situation when major elections are held in a country.
