ICC increases Women’s World Cup prize money fourfold
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced a historic fourfold increase in the prize money for the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, set to be held in India and Sri Lanka from September 30.
The total prize fund has been fixed at $138.08 million, over 168 crore taka.
This marks a significant rise from the $3.5 million prize fund of the 2022 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.
The ICC confirmed that the champion team will receive $88.8 million (about 540 million taka), while the runner-up will earn $22.4 million (around 270 million taka). Semi-finalists will get $11.2 million each.
Each participating team in the group stage will receive a minimum of $250,000, with a bonus of $34,314 per win. Teams finishing fifth and sixth will get $700,000 each, while seventh and eighth place teams will earn $280,000 each.
ICC Chairman Jay Shah described the prize increase as a “historic milestone” and emphasized the organization’s commitment to advancing women’s cricket.
The tournament will open with hosts India facing Sri Lanka on September 30, while Bangladesh will play its first match against Pakistan in Colombo on October 2.
